I had the good fortune of working for amazing organizations that taught me what real leadership looks like and what it can do to transform an organization. These leaders had some God-given gifts to be sure, but what I saw mostly was brute force effort to create a great environment for their teams - and that always started with the establishment of expectations, clear communication, strong frameworks where people knew who and how to navigate, and consistent communication that what we were working so hard to accomplish - was being accomplished.

If you’re killing it, if you feel great about what you’ve done at the end of the day, you still likely have tweaks to make that could level up your company, and your employees. I love this quote from Alfred Sloan, former CEO of General Motors, that says “There is no resting place for an enterprise in a competitive economy. The job of management is to keep the organization moving forward, always improving, always striving for something better.”
